Team Preston 93 – Loreto College 81

Guest Post - Monday, 24th November, 2014

The team took our new strips to Loreto knowing we were facing a tough battle against a side who haven’t lost in their own gym so far this season. Loreto have been one of the top teams in the division for a long time so I knew it was going to be a difficult game but I also knew we had the players to really take the game to them and give them a hard time.

Melkisedek Moreoux was our star man with 36 points and 16 rebounds but it was a real team effort and I saw every member of the team playing on top of his game to get the result.

At half-time, we were behind and struggling to make our mark on the game – but a few of my carefully chosen pep-talks and some quick conversations with each other saw us come out a different team after the break and take the advantage and continue the momentum to take a great victory back to Preston with us.

This year is a big year for us and we’re playing more games than ever, in more leagues. We’ve also been playing in the England Basketball Division 4 which is an excellent standard and is the first rung on the ladder to the professional leagues in the UK.

We recently held a competition to choose the new mascot name for the team and the winning name was Team Preston Titans – so we’ll be taking that and hoping we can play like Titans on all fronts for the rest of the year.

We’d really love for all of Preston to get behind us and with the new Division 4 games, we’ll be playing more games in Preston at the weekend. Our next game is on November 30 against Leeds Tigers, tip-off at 5pm. There’s free entry and the opportunity to watch some great basketball and cheer on your local national league team.

In the mean time, you can see a video of our performance at Loreto below:
