Five stars for student-run catering outlets at Preston’s College

PRESTON’S COLLEGE has been given the highest level of five stars by inspectors checking for food safety and hygiene best practice.
Vincent’s Restaurant, Vincent’s Larder, Vincent’s Lounge and the training kitchens were all reinspected last week following the College’s challenge on the inspector’s original rating of one star for the three Vincent’s outlets and four for the training kitchens.
The new rating puts the outlets at the top of the charts, with better results than many eating establishments, cafes and kitchens in the city.
Commercial manager for Preston’s College, Dave Grime said: “We’re pleased that the inspectors felt our case was worth a review and we were always confident of achieving a good rating.
“Our original rating was not in linked to our processes but was about the paperwork to support our processes which wasn’t in place but now is.
“Our staff and students all work tirelessly to ensure that procedures for food safety and hygiene are followed and we pride ourselves on that standard so to have it formally recognised is fantastic.
Vincent’s Restaurant and Vincent’s Larder, a butchers, are both open to the public. Anyone wanting further information on either can call 01772 225432 or visit www.preston.ac.uk/vincents
