Early Years Learners Open Additional Crèche

Gym goers can now workout in peace while their children, aged 6 weeks to 4 years, are cared for at Fulwood Leisure Centre on Monday mornings during term time.
Following the success of West View Leisure Centre’s crèche scheme that is being run in partnership with Preston’s College and the Early Years Cadet Programme, a crèche is now available at Fulwood Leisure Centre Mondays from 9:30am to 11:30am during term time. This means you can workout knowing your child is having fun in a safe environment with caring, friendly and qualified staff.
The crèche service, which costs only £1.50 per hour, offers soft play, ride-on toys, arts and crafts activities, stories and naptimes to its attendees, with a 2 to 1 ratio of trainees to children. Qualified trainers will be on hand to supervise, making this a perfect opportunity for Preston’s College students to gain work experience in real life situations, while offering this service to our members.
Jane McCormick. Head of Division Society, Early Years and Health Sciences at Preston’s College, said: “We are delighted to be working in partnership with Preston City Council to help remove the barriers to exercise and fitness by providing a high quality crèche facility within the leisure centres. We are proud to be contributing to the training of our students while addressing the government’s health and wellbeing agenda.
“At Preston’s College we feel that the added value that this real work experience offers is making our learners ‘the most employable.”
Councillor Veronica Afrin, Executive Member for Culture and Leisure Services said: “It can be very difficult to fit exercise into a busy schedule, particularly when you have little ones to take care of. This is a great partnership between ourselves and Preston College that not only helps provide a real-life training situation, but also makes life a little easier for members of the Leisure Centres.”
