The boys have experienced their first defeat and that’s good for their learning curve and will help them in the long run but I hate to lose and we never go out to do anything other than win so defeat is hard to take.

Having said that, I do have to give every credit to the Myerscough boys who played a great game and were deserved winners in the end but we ran them close which I guess is a positive to take from the game.

We simply lost concentration a few too many times and were always on the back foot and once you’re on the back foot, it’s difficult to get back ahead. We gave it a good go but in the end they were just too strong for us. As an American, I’m not a fan of losing and it puts me in a bad mood but we’ve had a really constructive time since the game, gone over where I, and where the lads felt we went wrong and we’ll pull together now to correct those minor problems in time for our next game which sees Myerscough once again come back to us in the cup.

I’m really hopeful we can correct those mistakes and see an even closer run game this time – hopefully with us coming out on top. The attitude of the players has been great and they are keen to get back on the court and get back to winning ways so we can look to challenge on both league and cup fronts until the end of the season.

We’re still a long way from the end and I see this as a minor set back but what I keep coming back to is that this is a team that is playing together for the first season this year and they will take a bit of time to get into their rhythm and really show people what they are capable of. We’ve demonstrated we have a good, solid team and that will give us the strength to move on and put this result to bed with a win next week.

See you on the court.
