Another successful year for A-Level students!
News - Thursday, 14th August, 2014
Preston’s College has today announced another year of consistently high achievement across the board, with exceptional A Level and AS exam results.
With a pass rate of 99% per cent, the college has maintained the same level of high achievement seen in previous years. The results will enable the majority of students to achieve their dreams of continuing to higher education study either at the College or at University or stepping up onto the career ladder.
As in previous years, many students have exceeded predictions made on the basis of their GCSE results when they first enrolled at the College, with the majority achieving A to C grades.
This year, outstanding achievement has been seen in several subjects that have achieved 100% A*-C grades including Art & Design and Photography.
Other notable results were 87% A*-C in Law and Media and a 100% pass rate on most courses.
Welcoming over 12,000 students each year and offering a full range of Apprenticeships and vocational courses alongside its A-Level provision, the College continues to build on its reputation as a leading provider of education in the area.
This success follows on from the College’s best ever results in 2013 and precedes some major changes with over £18m being invested in both a new enterprising learning ‘In-Zone’, opening in September and a £13 STEM centre due in 2015.
The college is also reinventing the way it provides education with a clear focus on making students ‘the most employable’, this will mean that many courses, including A-Levels, will feature real life working environments, live project briefs and work experience supported by theoretical study.
Commenting on this year’s results, Lis Smith, principal of Preston’s College, said: “We are once again extremely proud to be celebrating the success of our A-Level students who have shown great enthusiasm, dedication and hard work in their studies.
“We are particularly pleased that many of our students have achieved this success alongside gaining further qualifications that will really help them on their chosen path, whether that is university or a route into employment.
“We are looking forward to many changes in teaching and learning at the College, all of which will benefit our students greatly. Changes to the provision we provide will provide more vocational elements to our A-Level programme including work experience to really prepare our learners for their future careers and help them on their journey towards success.”
